Kansas State University’s A.Q. Miller School of Journalism & Mass Communication seeks an Instructor or Professor of Practice to teach two courses each semester and one course during the summer term. Areas of teaching may include but are not restricted to strategic communications (advertising or public relations), media design, media law, or production.

In addition, this role serves as the faculty adviser and chief operator of KSDB-FM, a student-run radio station. The faculty adviser and chief operator:
  • Manages and monitors daily operations of all broadcast and digital streams;
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable FCC rules and regulations;
  • Is responsible for the design, installation and implementation of new technical systems;
  • Maintains all equipment associated with over-the-air broadcasts and streams;
  • Communicates with the student staff concerning changes in programming, problems with programming or equipment and resolves technical problems;
  • Develops and documents procedures for training in software/hardware use, studio operations and other procedures necessary to all broadcast and streaming functions;
  • In conjunction with the KSDB-FM student management develops budgets and oversees compliance with all University accounting procedures;
  • Assists KSDB-FM student management in securing funding through the University Student Government and files all required reports;
  • Maintains inventory records; and
  • Is the instructor of record for academic courses; Radio Participation and Radio Practicum
NOTE: The position is a 12-month non-tenure track on a renewable annual contract. The beginning date is December 1, 2018.

Salary Range: $68,000 to $75,000
