About the Department:
The Accounting and Information Systems Department houses the following academic programs: B.S. in Accountancy, B.S. in Information Systems, undergraduate minor in Information Systems, Master of Professional Accountancy, Master of Science in Taxation. The undergraduate Accounting program was ranked third in the nation in 2016 by CollegeChoice and the graduate Taxation program, supported by the Bookstein Institute for Higher Education in Taxation, is ranked 17 in the nation. Qualifications:
Successful candidate must have the following credentials:
1. Education: A master’s degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution is required. A research
doctoral degree from an AACSB-accredited institution in accounting or a related discipline is preferred.
2. Publications: Successful candidate must meet the criterion for “Scholarly Academic” or
“Scholarly Practitioner” under the AACSB’s accreditation requirement and have a demonstrated engagement activities involving substantive scholarly activities in their fields of accounting. 3. Work Experience: At least five years of recent audit practice work experience that is substantial in terms level of responsibility, and which includes some international audit experience
4. Professional Credentials: Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
5. Technological proficiency: Demonstrated mastery of advanced features in Excel in the practice of
accounting, and recent experience working with data analytics for at least two years.
6. Pedagogical expectations
-Must be willing to integrate Canvas into the course delivery,
-Must be willing to integrate CPA review course materials into the course delivery.
Teaching experience in accounting is preferred.
7. Commitment to diversity: Candidates must demonstrate commitment and ability to work with students and
colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.
Responsibilities:
Teach courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs, primarily in audit. Integrate to the learning environment a strong emphasis of emerging technological skills, including advanced Excel and data analytics. Employ a variety of effective pedagogies in class, including the use of simulation and case studies in audit, integrating international audit standards. Provide ongoing service to the department, college and university. Consult and work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Engage in an ongoing program of scholarship in accounting and maintain the criterion for “Scholarly Academic” or “Scholarly Practitioner” under AACSB’s accreditation requirement. Undertake a teaching load of 30 units per academic year. Undergo performance review as prescribed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
