SUMMARY:

Provides conceptual and administrative leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of Division-wide planning and budgeting, possesses, broad knowledge of the programs generally associated with equity, diversity and inclusion in sufficient depth to consult on how relevant activities should be planned and reviewed; serves as liaison to the University campus community, alumni and community partners; prepares analyses of campus-wide EDI efforts and articulates relevant recommendations; overviews relevant research and practices nationwide to inform EDI policies and activities; and gathers, reviews, and organizes information, and prepares presentations for the Vice President.



PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

I. Under the direction of EDI Vice President, develops and delivers multi-level Intercultural Competency Workshop Series for all campus Divisions.

II. In concert with Human Resources Services, develops a multi-level Intercultural Competency Workshop Series for all new hires as part of onboarding and probation.

III. Develops educational materials designed to provide all students and employees with the knowledge, resources and tools for Intercultural Competency Development.

IV. Collaborates with other Divisions and groups to develop, implement, and oversee short courses, and ongoing opportunities for intergroup dialogue and deliberation throughout the university community utilizing a variety of dialogue formats and structures.

V. Provides ongoing training, oversight and monitoring for faculty, staff and student diversity dialogue facilitators.

VI. Maintains and continually renews a robust pool of faculty, staff and student facilitators.

VII. Develops themes and provides a platform for Diversity Monologues to afford students, faculty and staff a platform to share their transformation narratives.

VIII. Develops and delivers Safe Spaces and Brave Spaces training curricula for faculty, staff and all campus leaders.

IX. Develops and delivers a Deconstruction Series program to provide a forum for members of the campus community to explore dominant narratives, traditions and ideologies from alternative perspectives in order to stimulate dialogue, inquiry and reflection, and expand understanding of prevalent traditions which continue to impact the campus community.

X. Biannually, develops and conducts campus community climate surveys which address student and employee perspectives.

XI. Disseminates survey findings campus wide using a variety of methods, including official campus communication platforms, social media platforms, town halls and focus groups; and in consultation and partnership with various campus community stakeholders, develops strategic action plans for addressing campus community climate identified by the survey results.

XII. In consultation with the Vice President of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, designs and oversees unit assessment and program evaluation for the Division.

XIII. Promotes and supports opportunities for all students, faculty and staff to further their understanding of diversity, inclusion, and equity programs and services.

XIV. Collaborates with the Directors of MSDM and EDI to design and administrate assessment-based programs around student learning outcomes.

XV. Gathers assessment data on all EDI programs, synthesizes data, and prepares reports for submission to the Vice President.

XVI. Collaborates with the Vice President and Directors of MSDM and EDI to design and implement a marketing and communication plan.

XVII. Develops, manages, and tracks budget to assure best use of fiscal resources to successfully achieve targets; makes recommendations for reallocation of funds as needed; and develops budget projections for program initiatives-new and continuing.

XVIII. Seeks external funding sources such as grants, gifts in kind, and the like from private and government funding sources to ensure viable and high quality programs take place.

XIX. Participates as an EDI management team member; collaborates with fellow EDI directors in daily operations by sharing in the process of establishing annual goals and carrying out the mission of the Division; and works closely with other members of the campus community and establishes strong ties with other units on various projects and programs.

XX. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.



SPECIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree.
A minimum four years of professional leadership experience in the higher education field, including significantly responsible experience in Diversity-related work.
Cultural and linguistic in American Sign Language fluency at the time of application.
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of computer and statistical analysis and excellent writing communication.
Experience in planning, demonstrated ability in program evaluation, institutional research, resources management and management systems.
Demonstrated skills which enable incumbent to maintain positive relationships with the EDI Management Team, Faculty Governance officers, Department Chairs and other community leaders on sensitive issues.
Knowledge of the needs of culturally diverse populations, the challenges of acquiring a second language, assessment and program design.
Ability to forge partnerships across the campus community and outside the University.
