The Department of Political Science seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor of public administration beginning August 2019. The candidate will contribute to the Masters in Public Administration program, teach undergraduate courses, and be expected to have an active research agenda. 

Kansas State University is located in Manhattan, KS in the Flint Hills region. KSU is a land-grant institution and classified as Carnegie R1 university. The Department of Political Science is committed to the goals of providing quality instruction for our undergraduate and graduate programs and a vibrant environment for its faculty to develop and maintain their research agendas. The Political Science department houses three graduate programs, a Masters in Public Administration, an M.A. in Political Science, and a Ph.D. in Security Studies. Faculty teach a mix of graduate and undergraduate courses and typically offer a 2-2 teaching load.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidates should be able to contribute to the department’s nationally accredited MPA program by offering graduate courses in public administration/management. We are open to various sub-field areas of expertise, with the exception of budget/finance. 
  • Candidates should be able contribute to the undergraduate curriculum in political science by offering a course such as introduction to public policy. 
  • Applicants must present evidence of: a vibrant and well developed research agenda, high quality teaching, and a commitment to working with diverse students and colleagues and to the value of diverse ideas.  
  • Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Public Administration or Political Science completed by August of 2019.
  • Exceptional candidates who are ABD may be considered at the rank of instructor.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidates should be comfortable with online and distance education instruction

Salary Range: $65,000 - $68,000, commensurate with qualifications and experiences.
