About OneGoal
Only 22% of students from low-income communities earn a college degree, compared to 67% of their peers from high-income areas. At OneGoal, we believe that all students – not just those with the best grades or the most resources – have the ability and deserve the opportunity to earn a postsecondary degree. What’s more, we have developed a solution that works, and we believe this problem is solvable within our lifetime.

We are looking for individuals who will join OneGoal during this unique window in time:

In just 10 years, OneGoal has grown from 32 students in one city to some 13,000 students in six regions.
OneGoal’s teacher-led, in-school, three-year college access and success model is game-changing. While nationwide, only 22% of kids in low-income communities earn a postsecondary degree, 81% of OneGoal Fellows (students) enroll in a postsecondary institution and 86% of those who enroll persist one year later.
Over the next five years we have set our sights on unprecedented goals: first to attain a 60% graduation rate among Fellows and to develop new delivery models to dramatically grow our reach.

The Person

As a Year Three (Y3) Director of Teacher Support (DTS), your primary mission is to manage, coach and develop a portfolio of OneGoal Program Directors (teachers, also called PDs) in the third year of the OneGoal program. You believe – and your work has demonstrated your belief – that all students can achieve those aspirations. We measure Fellow success by looking at Fellow persistence in a postsecondary path of their choosing, Fellow enrollment in high-quality institutions and progressive pathways, and culturally relevant non-cognitive skill development as determined by our national programmatic goals. In order to do this, you will coach our Program Directors (teachers) to deliver the OneGoal program, reflect on our past experiences and data, set purposeful and measurable goals, develop key mindsets, skill sets, and knowledge around Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP) and coaching; you will do this in a way that thoughtfully prioritizes our work in a way that drives us efficiently toward our vision.

You will do this by:
Creating a differentiated support plan to manage, coach, and develop a portfolio of Program Directors through coaching conversations, feedback, modeling, and data analysis to meet our primary Year 3 goals.
Providing strategies and support for PDs to coach Fellows toward academic, social, and financial postsecondary success (60%)
Assisting Program Directors by directly supporting a percentage of the entire Fellow cohort towards outcomes (10 %)
Collaborating with the Year 3 team and regional Program Director Development group to design and deliver teacher training that develops Program Directors’ knowledge, skills and mindsets toward supporting Fellows to overcome the barriers to persist in college. (10-20%)
Advancing OneGoal’s regional and national efforts to enhance our curriculum, PD coaching, and Fellow supports through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. (10-20%)
Increasing personal and professional capacity to become increasingly more critically conscious, culturally responsive and affirming in your leadership, management, and decision making.

Though the Year 3 DTS is likely to see himself/herself/themselves in the following examples, these are not requirements. These examples are designed to help you determine if this opportunity aligns with your own passion and purpose.

You believe deeplyin our Fellows and their ability to achieve their greatest postsecondary aspirations.
  • You believe that our Fellows face real systemic barriers to college graduation and that empowering their families, their teachers (PDs) and them to own their unique path will help them to overcome those barriers.
  • You know different frameworks for identity development, especially for our youth.
  • You know that even if we’re meeting our goals for our Fellows, we still haven’t solved the larger problem, and so you want to be a part of innovating and constantly improving.

You know the postsecondary landscape.
  • You’ve seen first-hand the barriers that stop our Fellows from persisting in college, and have already been working on some solutions, or have some ideas on what needs to be done. Our teachers would benefit from your expertise.
  • You constantly strive to learn and be resourceful, even if you’re already an expert.
  • You know there’s always more to know, and that the college access and persistence landscape is constantly changing, and you want to keep up.

You believe in the power of coaching.
  • You’re a people person; you build strong relationships.
  • You believe that your impact can be greater when you empower others.
  • You believe that all teachers have the ability to be great and that even great teachers can achieve more with additional resources and support.
  • You know every learner is different, and you know how to adjust your coaching to meet their needs.

You identify the problem and find the right solution.
  • You use data to analyze trends and synthesize the most impactful problem or opportunity.
  • You believe using the data you have in front of you will lead to more strategic decisions.
  • You create differentiated plans of support to advance our progress toward goals based on both quantitative and qualitative data.

You are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

You act on the belief that there are multiple perspectives on the world and understand that a person’s worldview reflects her/his/their own location in the social order relative to such factors as race/ ethnicity, class, and gender.
You continuously build your understanding of privilege and oppression especially within the context of our country, education system, and college divide.
You believe that equity and difference uplifts all groups.
You use your knowledge, skills, and mindsets to challenge the status quo outside and within our organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
  • At least two years prior experience in urban education at the secondary level or in higher education (at a college/university or with a community-based organization (CBO)/nonprofit) with demonstrated results (Strongly Preferred)
  • Prior experience coaching or training adults (Strongly Preferred)
  • This position requires heavy travel across the region; applicants should have access to a vehicle (OneGoal reimburses for car sharing and/or mileage)
