Job Summary: The Senior Analyst for Campus Climate reports to both the Vice President for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and the Special Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs/Director of AER. This role is responsible for mapping existing data and identifying gaps to develop a comprehensive approach to understand campus climate at the University of Utah for students, faculty and staff. The successful candidate must have the ability to take initiative to accomplish goals in collaboration and consultation, researching best practices across the planning, assessment and implementation cycles for units across campus. This individual will coordinate the data needs campus partners to provide a baseline understanding of equity and inclusion at the University of Utah. This research will inform development of comprehensive institutional strategy led by the Vice President for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. As a member of the AER team, this individual will support institutional and specific survey and reporting needs. The individual in this role will need to employ creativity, analytical skills, and be driven by challenges to achieve specific goals. The incumbent must have the skills and ability needed to identify data needs and sources and/or develop data collection strategies in collaboration with data units on campus.

Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as education, psychology, sociology, or research methodology, or equivalency, plus two years of related experience. • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

Departmental Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s degree in higher education leadership, sociology, psychology. • Strong commitment to and demonstrated skills in leading diversity and equity initiatives; preferably in a competitive research university setting. • Demonstrated experience effectively working and establishing rapport with diverse populations with strong working knowledge of social justice theories and scholarship. • Fluency with the prevailing and emerging trends in higher education and knowledge of best practices in diversity and inclusion programming and training.

• Previous experience in assessment and research roles. • Effective project management skills • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills required, ability to effectively engage and present to a wide variety of constituents, both internally and externally. • Experience leading, writing, and executing, ongoing assessments.

Responsibilities: • Analyze and report on existing data from a variety of sources to identify themes and gaps in knowledge. • Work with a variety of stakeholders to analyze existing data and identify gaps to determine subsequent data collection strategies. • Coordination of meetings and committees to identify data needs, sources and process. • Develop reports and communications on key elements of campus climate, with an initial emphasis on students, to promote transparency amongst stakeholders. • Provide support for utilization and survey data needs as a member of the AER team. • Ability to develop, review and report on data using Qualtrics and other survey software. • Ability to utilize analysis tools such as Excel, SPSS, R or Stata to analyze and present data. • Other duties as assigned.
