The University of Virginia's Department of Student Health & Wellness, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is seeking to hire a full-time mental health professional for the position of Staff Psychotherapist. The Staff Psychotherapist provides triage, diagnostic and developmental assessments, brief psychotherapy, group therapy, mental health screenings and day and afterhours on-call crisis services. The Staff Psychotherapist also serves as a consultant to faculty, staff, parents, students, and other community members seeking assistance in addressing students’ psychological concerns. In addition, the position provides referral support for students wishing to connect with psychological and psychiatric services in the community. This position further provides supervision and didactic training to trainees in an APA-accredited doctoral internship program and develops and delivers relevant and effective outreach to the UVa community.
Staff Psychotherapists provide:

Individual and group counseling and psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and clinical consultation. They manage outreach initiatives and programming. They conduct clinical interviews to obtain a comprehensive patient overview and discuss educational history, physical and mental health issues, social factors, substance use.
Conduct screening and comprehensive diagnostic psycho-educational evaluations.
Provide consultative and resource services to health-care providers, as well as University faculty.
Provide direct supervision and interactive teaching to trainees in psychology.
Lead business and staff meetings, committees and special projects.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Doctorate of Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field, or Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or other related mental health field.

Experience: minimum of 3 years of experience providing individual psychotherapy to adolescents or adults and a minimum of 1 year of experience with risk assessment and crisis intervention. Experience coordinating care with psychiatrists and/or other medical professionals.

Licensure: Licensed Psychologist in State of Virginia. Must be licensed as a psychologist, LPC or LCSW or license eligible to practice in the state of Virginia (Must provide proof of credentials as part of the pre-hire process)
