Director of Cross Cultural Centers (Jane Kopas Women’s Center & Multicultural Center)

Job Purpose
The Director of the Cross Cultural Centers (Jane Kopas Women’s Center & Multicultural Center) oversees the Centers while leading the daily operations and programming efforts for the Jane Kopas Women’s Center. The Director develops and implements programs that promote gender equity within a framework of intersectionality, social change, and feminism in line with the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission.

Essential Duties
- Develop, plan, and implement programs and initiatives on gender equity and social justice that incorporate feminist theories and best practices which includes, but is not limited to, anti-violence advocacy, body image and integrity, identity development, social justice, and women’s leadership and skill building efforts

- Administer day-to-day operation of the Jane Kopas Women’s Center, including, but not limited to, budget management, strategic planning and Center operations

- Provide oversight of anti-violence advocacy, bystander engagement, and healthy relationships programming for students

- Implement and manage PACT (Promoting Awareness of the College Transition), a required new student program on healthy relationships, consent and sexual misconduct, which includes recruitment and training of students and professional staff, facilitation of the presentations, and program assessment

- Supervise, train, and assess work study students, interns, and volunteers

- Oversee management of the Multicultural Center

- Develop and facilitate leadership training and mentoring opportunities related to feminism, gender equity, diversity, and multiculturalism

- Serve as a support person and advocate for marginalized student populations

- Work with University members including faculty to increase students understanding of feminist theories and knowledge that can then be translated into social justice action through on-going involvement

- Identify and implement departmental assessment initiatives through annual assessment planning, staff evaluations, program reviews, and divisional efforts

- Provide departmental mission, vision, goals, and student learning outcomes directed toward a positive inclusive campus climate for all members of The University of Scranton

- Assist students, faculty, staff, and local community members to find ways to engage in the work and mission of the Cross Cultural Centers

Additional Skills Required
- Comprehension of feminist theories, critical race theory, multicultural competence, social change theory, and gender equity

- Ability to successfully plan, implement and assess programs gender equity topics for the college student population (such as sexual assault, eating disorders, body image, and intersectionality, etc.)

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong presentation and facilitation skills

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team

- The ability to respect, support, and contribute to the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission

Minimum Education Requirements
Master’s degree is required in Women’s and Gender Studies, College Student Affairs, Higher Education or a closely related field
