Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of the LGBTQA Resource Center, the Assistant Director will foster greater awareness, knowledge and skills around LGBTQA+ identities, culture and inclusion through providing individualized, in person and online support for LGBTQA+ learners. The Assistant Director will work with the Director toward the goal of increasing a sense of belonging and leadership for LGBTQA+ learners. The Assistant Director will further develop and grow the Center’s engagement and support to meet the needs of a diverse LGBTQA+ population on Northeastern’s campuses as well as a growing network across the globe.
The Assistant Director will plan, organize and execute signature programs, including but not limited to OUTober Pride and History Month, Rainbow Graduation and ReachOUT LGBTQA Career Conference as well as leadership programming, including NU Queers and the Queer Assembly. The Assistant Director will provide direct support and meet with learners one-on-one, provide referrals, and mentor and advise student organizations and affinity groups as needed. In addition, the Assistant Director will also focus their efforts on creating and sustaining a support system for international students who identify as LGBTQA+.

Additionally, the Assistant Director will serve as a Center representative for collaborative projects and outreach, and may be called upon to represent the Center on division-wide or university-wide committees. This position requires frequent nights and weekends to ensure the success of programs and services.

Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field with at least 1-3 years of experience working with diverse or marginalized populations or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of social justice issues and best practices, programming, student activism and diversity issues is a must. Knowledge of international LGBTQA climates is preferred. Specific experience in providing direct services to historically underrepresented and LGBTQ students in an urban, multicultural, and global environment preferred.
