The Coordinator for Special Student Programs provides support, advising, advocacy, and outreach for diverse students, advancing retention and success of students of color and LGBTQIA+ identified students. The Coordinator for Special Student Programs is responsible for providing co-curricular educational programming, and developmental leadership opportunities for students within a diversity and social justice framework. Provide direct services as an advisor and advocate for students assisting in their retention and success. Consult and partner with other student support service colleagues, faculty and staff on campus in this effort. Address individual student concerns, help students establish connections with programs and resources relating to retention and success, and serve on University committees and teams as appropriate. *Design, coordinate and implement/facilitate diversity and social justice programs (e.g. discussions, developmental trainings, the Safe Zones Program, workshops, retreats, open houses, receptions, etc.) for students. Work as a liaison to diversity based student organizations, and student organizations in general, advising, assisting, and supporting the development of their cultural, diversity and social justice programs and events, when and where appropriate. * Work with low income and first generation students, students of color, LGBTQA+ students, students of diverse cultural, religious and spiritual backgrounds, and with all University students via inclusive roles and collaborations. *Work collaboratively with students and colleagues campus-wide to develop resources and implement initiatives to grow community building, inclusion/equity, intersectionality, diversity and social justice. This is a one year term position.
