Job Description
The mission of the Office of Student Involvement is to engage students in a vibrant campus community through holistic, co-curricular experiences.

The Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Affairs is the primary advisor to the UMKC fraternity and sorority community governing organizations, chapters, and members. This staff member will report to the Assistant Dean of Students for Student Engagement/Director for Student Involvement and will assist in furthering the university’s strategic plan of providing exceptional student learning, success and experience. This position supports individual student development, advances organizational, and community goals that align with the educational mission of the university.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Collaborate with the UMKC community to implement, execute, and evaluate enriching, informative, and memorable programs and activities.
  • Advise three governing councils (IFC, CPC, and NPHC), 12 chapters, and approximately 4% of the student body who are chapter members.
  • Maintain strong relationships with chapter (inter)national headquarters staff.
  • Serve as a liaison for all chapter advisors, seeking their advice, input, and collaboration.
  • Provide oversight for all council budgets within the Office of Student Involvement.
  • Maintain data and metrics regarding participation in activities and events. Produce evaluations and assessments of initiatives and report the results to stakeholders.
  • Provide support to other areas within the Office of Student Involvement.
  • Develop collaborative relationships across campus and across divisions in order to promote fraternity and sorority life community matters on campus.
  • Work with chapter leaders to ensure that chapter rosters are accurate in the RooGroups database.
  • Maintain accurate and current records on membership, conduct matters, retention and scholastic achievement.
  • Participate, develop, and implement best practices in leadership programming and training including workshops, retreats, risk management workshops, student travel, and leadership recognition in support of the UMKC Minimum Expectations for fraternities and sororities.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of print and web-based published material.
  • Attend activities and events, which may require evening and weekend work.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate student staff.
  • Serve on university committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree and a minimum of two years progressive experience advising and assisting with the development of fraternity and sorority communities. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, creative, energetic, and team-focused, committed to student development, flexible, and have a great sense of humor.

Full Time/Part Time
Full time, benefits eligible

Salary
$47,476 - $49,000 commensurate with experience and education
