Presented by Dr. Sue Rankin, Co-Investigator
Session Description: In addition to the normative challenges of college, queer spectrum and trans spectrum students (QTS) are often exposed to stressors related discrimination contribute to negative outcomes among QTS students. These stressors may lead to QTS students’ greater propensity to use and abuse alcohol and/or drugs, to think about or attempt suicide, and to consider leaving their college/university. The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between campus climate, health outcomes (e.g., alcohol use, drug use, depression, suicidality), and academic outcomes (e.g., intent to persist, perceived academic success, overall GPA) for QTS students.
