TONI Project

The National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE)  just launched the TONI Project (Transgender On-Campus Non-Discrimination Information Project), a new website for trans and gender non-conforming college students to transform their campus. Learn more at www.transstudents.org

At the TONI Project, you can:

  1. Learn about the kinds of policies that exist at different campuses. Does a school have gender neutral housing? Does the University health care plan include transition-related care? Are there courses that examine transgender issues? There are a lot of things that mark a welcoming community for transgender people. Use this site to find out more about a school.
  2. Sign up to add your school into the TONI Project, or correct information about a school already in the site. The TONI Project relies on you to be the most accurate site for this information.
  3. Check in with the Resources section of the website for other information important to transgender students. And when you’re ready to take action, we have resources to help you organize your campus to be a better community for transgender people.

August 7th 2012

Contact: justin adkins, Publications and Communications Chair

As professionals in the field, the Consortium of Higher Education Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Professionals realizes that relationships with companies like Chick-Fil-A are much more complicated than the media portrays.  Sometimes our students play critical roles in decisions related to contracts with outside entities while other times our colleges and universities rely on contractors and subcontractors for services. Regardless, LGBT resource professionals may often have to explain and sometimes defend institutional commitments and contracts even when they contradict stated institutional policies and values. As LGBT resource professionals we have a responsibility to support our students while working within complex organizations and institutions.
